Ich habe
gaaar nicht meinen dritten
deutschen
„Geburtstag“
Ich habe ihn tatsächlich bereits am
Samstag 3.
unglaublicher Zufall!

Falls
mein Schreiben hier sehr
verwirrend oder einfach Unsinn ist,
kann man auch die englische Version lesen. |
Ufff! Ich habe jetzt endlich über mein 3. Jubiläum geschrieben. Naja... Besser
spät als nie!

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
Should my comments be in Deutsch? Ene, fune, herke, berke, Wer? Wie?
Wo? Was? My mother told me to pick the sensible one... and
English is it!
(for now) |
This
marks the first time I have written with actual understanding of the grammatical "case"
concept! I still have questions about some details, and I cannot remember the
rules. But I know it enough, that I can look up what I need and usually
render them correctly. That's a giant step forward, from my previous
fuzzy grasp and spotty rote learning.
Note: Unlike my main piece,
I have very specific & subtle things I wish to express in my comments,
and it's important that I convey them accurately.

No, I haven't forgotten about my 3rd “German
birthday”
In fact, I did celebrate it on Saturday, March 3. It was just not shown online. I have even come
to realize, that I am actually more excited about my German "birthday" than my
real one. Imagine that! The two main reasons being:
1) It's a terrific fresh experience. 2) It represents
my efforts and merits, rather than just being alive for x years.

Believe it or not?
The perfect color scheme
of my drink was entirely coincidental! |

Tolles Getränk!
Du musst es einmal schmecken. |
A good friend of mine took me out to Thai dinner. It was originally not specifically
for celebrating the occasion. My friend, however, knows about my German learning
and my linguistic friends very well, as we discuss it often. The topic of my
"German birthday" came up
during our pre-dinner conversation, and I decided to
designate the dinner as my celebration. And, what a nice celebration it was!
In addition to the delicious Thai cuisine, which we both love, I also got to
finally meet the rest of my friend's family. I have previously known and met
only 3 of the 6 members.
The children introduced me to a new (to me) beverage called bubble tea,
and I chose mango flavor. It is basically an icy milky fruity drink
with green/black tea. It's actually very refreshing and unique. Being
easily amused, I was fascinated by the giant drinking straw, and how neat and
fun it is, to suck up the chewy jelly-like balls (called pearls) at the bottom
of the glass. Apparent, this is very popular in Asia, and it has spread to the
US and Germany in recent years.
In the spirit of "better late than never," I now remedy my neglected web
site. Somehow, it sounds better to celebrate my 3¼ birthday,
then to celebrate my 3rd birthday 3 months late. ;)
